Program Overview

Preserve and Celebrate Your Loved One’s Artistic Legacy

Some stories deserve to be carried forward. An artist’s work is more than a collection of objects; it is a living voice, a unique contribution to our shared cultural memory. The TICA Legacy Artist Support Program is founded on a deep respect for this truth.

Designed to support families, estates, and representatives of deceased Indian contemporary artists, this program offers a gentle, professional partnership to help preserve, document, and share an artist’s legacy with dignity and care.

Through archival and curatorial support, thoughtful storytelling, and meaningful visibility, we help ensure that the artist’s work continues to inspire new generations of collectors, researchers, and art enthusiasts. TICA’s mission is to make it easier for families to navigate the complexities of managing an artist estate in India, turning what can be a daunting process into a supportive, structured, and respectful experience.

How it Works?

At TICA, we understand that managing an artist’s legacy is both an emotional and practical journey. Our process is designed to be sensitive, collaborative, and transparent, ensuring that the artist’s story is preserved with dignity while offering tangible support to their family or estate.

Step 1: A Quiet Conversation

Your journey begins with a personal and confidential conversation. Reach out via email to schedule an introductory call with our Legacy Specialist. We listen first — to your goals, concerns, and the story of the artist — so we can design a partnership that feels right for you.

Step 2: Gathering the Stories and Materials

We guide you through assembling relevant documentation, including certificates of authenticity, images of artworks, exhibition records, and any archival materials. This process is collaborative, allowing the family or estate to feel fully involved in curating the artist’s history.

Step 3: A Collaborative Agreement

We co-create a transparent agreement tailored to your estate’s needs. This includes clear roles, responsibilities, and most importantly, a commission structure that honors the artist’s lifetime of work. TICA offers one of the lowest commissions in the market for legacy collections, ensuring that the family or estate receives maximum benefit from each sale.

Step 4: Curating with Care

Your dedicated Artist Manager works closely with you to select works for the collection, write thoughtful descriptions, and create a comprehensive artist profile on TICA. Every step is approved by you, so the narrative is authentic, respectful, and true to the artist’s vision.

Step 5: Sharing the Legacy

Once the collection is live, we share it with the TICA community through curated launches, editorial content, and targeted outreach to collectors, researchers, and institutions. This ensures the artist’s work continues to inspire, educate, and resonate across generations.

Step 6: Ongoing Support

We remain a partner even after the collection goes live. From sales management to legal guidance and educational outreach, TICA provides ongoing support to safeguard the legacy while maximizing its visibility and impact.

Commission & Fees: A Model Built on Respect

At TICA, we believe that an artist’s legacy deserves to be preserved with dignity while ensuring that the families and estates benefit fully from their work. Our financial structure is designed to support you at every step:

Lowest Commission for Legacy Artists:

As a part of our deep commitment to preserving India’s artistic heritage, we offer a reduced commission of 22% for all founding legacy partners—well below standard market rates—so that more of the proceeds from sales directly benefit the artist’s family or estate.

Collaborative & Transparent Pricing:

Pricing is determined in partnership with you and your dedicated Artist Manager. We consider the artist’s history, provenance, past exhibitions, and market research to ensure that each artwork is valued fairly and ethically.

No Upfront or Hidden Fees:

There are absolutely no registration, consultation, documentation, or platform hosting fees. Our commission only applies after a successful sale, aligning our goals entirely with yours.

Sustainable Support:

Our model ensures that preserving and promoting a legacy is financially sustainable for families, letting you focus on what matters most—honoring the artist’s vision.

Questions related to this program

Frequently asked questions:

Who can participate in the Legacy Artist Support Program?

The program is open to families, legal heirs, or official representatives of deceased Indian contemporary artists. Only those with legal authority over the artist’s estate can apply to ensure the process is handled with authenticity and integrity.

What if we don’t have complete documentation for all artworks?

That’s completely normal. TICA assists with research, archiving, and documentation. We work with whatever materials you have—images, provenance records, certificates of authenticity—and help build a professional digital archive.

Are there any upfront costs?

No. There are no registration, consultation, documentation, or hosting fees. The only cost is the commission applied after a successful sale, ensuring alignment with your interests.

How is the pricing of artworks determined?

Pricing is a collaborative process. Your Artist Manager conducts market research, considers exhibition history, provenance, and uniqueness of works, then proposes a fair pricing structure. You have full approval before anything is listed.

Who manages the logistics of sold artworks?

TICA handles the entire logistics chain: professional packaging, secure shipping, and delivery to collectors. We ensure that artworks arrive safely while minimizing stress for the estate.

What happens to copyright of the artworks?

The copyright remains with the artist’s estate according to Indian law. TICA ensures all reproductions for promotional purposes are handled with full permission from the estate.

Can the collection be used for educational or research purposes?

Yes. With your permission, TICA promotes the artist’s work for non-commercial academic research, exhibitions, and educational content to expand their legacy and reach new audiences.
